Baltimore Sizzles at 90 Before Late-Day Storms and a Soggy Week Ahead

Baltimore starts Monday, August 17, with a muggy morning near 76 degrees and a quick climb toward 90. Skies will stay mostly sunny for much of the day, but the forecast gets less cooperative late in the afternoon.

Storm Chances Arrive After 5 P.M.

Westerly winds will run around 5 to 8 mph during the day before shifting northwest Monday night. Temperatures drop only to about 73 degrees overnight, and lingering storm chances should fade before 8 p.m. as clouds fill in.

Sunny Tuesday And Wednesday

Tuesday looks like the week’s easiest outdoor day, with sunshine, a high near 88 and a low around 71 Tuesday night. Wednesday brings another sunny 90-degree afternoon, although the overnight low will remain a sticky 73.

Wetter Pattern Takes Over Thursday

Rain and thunderstorm chances increase sharply Thursday, when showers could arrive in the morning before thunderstorms become more likely later in the day. The forecast calls for a high near 87 and a 60% chance of precipitation, with storms likely continuing Thursday night.

Friday and Saturday stay unsettled, with highs around 84 and a 50% chance of showers or thunderstorms each day. Sunday should be partly sunny with a high near 85, but a few showers remain possible before the region gets a somewhat cooler night near 68, according to the Baltimore-Washington weather office.
