Early Monday, Baltimore was sitting around 76 degrees with muggy air, but sunshine will push temperatures toward 94 by afternoon. The heat will not have the last word: showers and thunderstorms could move in after 3 p.m., making the hottest part of the day a potentially rough one.
Afternoon Storms Could Bring Damaging Winds
The National Weather Service puts the chance of rain at 40% Monday, with the greatest storm potential from late afternoon into the evening. Damaging wind gusts are the main concern, while isolated large hail, lightning and brief flash flooding are also possible.
Most of Monday should stay mostly sunny, with southwest winds increasing to around 9 mph. Storms are expected to develop west of Baltimore before pushing toward the metro area, with the most likely window for stronger activity roughly between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Tuesday Looks Like The Wetter Day
Tuesday brings another hot day, with a high near 90 and a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms beginning in the afternoon. Rainfall totals could reach a quarter-inch to a half-inch in spots, and storms remain likely Tuesday night with temperatures falling only to around 73.
Wednesday stays unsettled, with a high near 89 and a 40% chance of showers before a slight chance of thunderstorms later in the day. Thursday will still be warm at about 91, but the storm chance drops to 20%.
Cooler Air Finally Arrives Late Week
Temperatures ease back Friday and Saturday, with highs near 86 and 85 degrees and overnight lows dipping into the upper 60s. A few showers remain possible, but the end of the week looks less humid and more manageable for outdoor plans than the hot, storm-prone start.
No watches, warnings or advisories were posted for Baltimore Monday morning. Still, anyone caught outside during a thunderstorm should head indoors promptly, especially if gusty winds, frequent lightning or a sudden downpour develops.
