A 20-year-old Baltimore man is headed toward trial after his defense attorney declined a plea offer that would have put 50 years behind bars on the table in a Northeast Baltimore shooting case. Jeremiah Webb faces attempted murder and armed robbery charges stemming from a gunfire-filled encounter at an apartment complex on Walther Avenue.
The shooting happened on August 29, 2025, in the 6600 block of Walther Avenue, where Baltimore police said officers found a 43-year-old man inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his back. The victim was taken to an area hospital and listed in stable condition, according to the Baltimore Police Department.
Earlier coverage described the encounter as an arranged meeting that turned into an alleged robbery. According to charging documents cited by Hoodline’s earlier cash-grab report, the victim had $400 in his vehicle when prosecutors say co-defendant Yashmita Gibson took the money and an unidentified man entered the car and fired a handgun.
Webb Faces 12 Charges In Walther Avenue Case
Webb is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, firearm use and possession counts, reckless endangerment, illegal ammunition possession, discharge of a firearm and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Baltimore Witness reported that prosecutors offered a life sentence with all but 50 years suspended, along with requirements that Webb stay away from the victim and register as a gun offender. Defense attorney Augustine Okeke declined the offer after saying he had not yet reviewed discovery materials provided that morning. Judge Melissa Copeland set a jury trial for November 4, 2026, with the Hicks speedy-trial deadline falling on December 2.
Trial Now Awaits In Baltimore City Circuit Court
With the plea offer declined, the case is expected to proceed before a Baltimore City Circuit Court jury. Webb has not been convicted, and prosecutors will have to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
