A storefront inside Ocoee's Silver Crossings Shopping Center is under construction at 1720 E. Silver Star Road, Unit A-108, where Barrio Burrito Bar plans to open a fast-paced Tex-Mex restaurant known for made-to-order burritos, bowls, tacos and quesadillas. The Canadian-based chain's Ocoee outpost sits near the intersection of Silver Star Road and Clarke Road, in a corridor that has already seen its share of restaurant turnover.
The West Orange Times & Observer reports that the chain has not set a formal grand opening date for the Ocoee store. That contrasts with what franchisee Karan Amin has told Business Debut, which reports he's targeting a soft opening in August followed by a formal grand opening in September. Per that same outlet, the Ocoee menu will let customers customize burritos, bowls, tacos and quesadillas, plus loaded sides like extreme fries, nachos and several styles of churros.
Anchored by Publix, Aimed at a Six-Store Buildout
The Barrio Burrito Bar space sits inside the 70,878-square-foot Silver Crossings Shopping Center, a neighborhood retail plaza anchored by a Publix supermarket, according to TCII Capital Group. The commercial real estate firm notes that Silver Star Road carries between 22,000 and 35,000 average daily vehicle trips near the site, while Clarke Road sees roughly 25,000 daily trips, giving the storefront steady visibility at one of Ocoee's busier suburban intersections.
Amin is treating the Ocoee store as one piece of a broader push into Central Florida. Business Debut reports he intends to open at least six Barrio Burrito Bar locations across the state over three years, with four already in his pipeline, including a planned site at Loughman Crossing in Davenport.
A Canadian Brand's Rapid U.S. Expansion
Barrio Burrito Bar traces its roots to a Toronto shop that opened in 2005 under the name barBURRITO, according to BarBurrito, growing into Canada's largest burrito chain with more than 375 locations. The company launched its U.S. expansion in 2020 under the name BURRITOBAR before rebranding to Barrio Burrito Bar in 2024, the company says.
That U.S. push has moved quickly. Restaurant Dive reports the chain's American division had surpassed 1,500 contractually committed franchise units nationwide as of mid-2025, driven by a master franchise development model. Individual stores typically run between 1,000 and 1,500 square feet in inline or endcap spaces, per the outlet, with total franchisee startup costs ranging from $418,620 to $773,000.
Clarke Road's Ever-Changing Storefronts
Hoodline previously reported that Hungry Howie's Shutters After 12 Years on Clarke Road, with Stoner's Pizza moving into that spot. Silver Crossings itself recently welcomed MR.J Hand-pulled Noodle into the same shopping center as well.
