A two-month-old baby girl died Friday evening after being found unresponsive in Borough Park, where officers responded to an emergency call before she was taken to Maimonides Medical Center. She was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the cause of death remains unknown.
According to News 12 Brooklyn, NYPD officers arrived around 5 p.m. and found the baby unconscious and unresponsive. She was transported by private means, and police later determined the incident occurred inside a building on 48th Street; no arrests had been announced and the baby's identity had not been released.
No Arrests As Medical Examiner Review Begins
The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The agency handles forensic investigations in sudden and unexpected deaths, but no cause or manner of death has been publicly announced in this case.
