A Putnam County homeowner woke to a hooded man allegedly pointing his own shotgun at his face. During the ensuing struggle, he was beaten unconscious with the firearm, and three suspects are now jailed without bond.
The break-in happened around 1:30 a.m. on July 18 at a home on Pine Drive, according to Tampa Free Press. The homeowner had cleaned the shotgun the previous evening and left it in the living room before waking to a light in his bedroom and seeing the armed intruder. He also told investigators that Stacy Oliver was standing beside his girlfriend.
When the homeowner lunged for the weapon, the suspect struck him during the struggle, leaving him unconscious with severe facial injuries. His girlfriend later drove him to a hospital, where doctors determined that his face was fractured badly enough to require surgery.
Threats Kept The Case Quiet For Four Days
Authorities said the suspects warned the homeowner’s girlfriend that they would harm the family if anyone contacted law enforcement. Saniyah Oliver allegedly confronted a witness on the front porch who was trying to call for help and threatened to shoot him if he did not drop his phone. The suspects then left with the shotgun, vehicle keys and cash, while the homeowner delayed reporting the crime for four days.
The investigation gained momentum after a friend showed the victim a video in which Tyler Keller allegedly bragged about the assault. Detectives connected Keller to Stacy Oliver, who investigators learned had attended high school with him.
Three Suspects Face Serious Felony Charges
Stacy Oliver, 23, of Interlachen, was arrested last Monday and charged with home-invasion robbery and aggravated battery. Saniyah Oliver, 22, also of Interlachen, turned herself in later that day and faces home-invasion robbery, aggravated assault and accessory to a first-degree felony charges.
Keller, 22, of Hawthorne, was arrested the next day after the victim located him and drove him to the sheriff’s office, according to the reported case timeline. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office jail roster lists Saniyah Oliver in custody with no bond, while Tampa Free Press reported that all three suspects remained held without bond.
What The Florida Charges Mean
Florida law defines home-invasion robbery as a robbery committed after entering a dwelling, and the firearm version is a first-degree felony under state statute. Aggravated battery, which can involve great bodily harm or use of a deadly weapon, is generally a second-degree felony under Florida law.
Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, without an intent to kill, is a third-degree felony under another Florida statute. The accessory-after-the-fact charge is governed by Florida’s accessory law, which addresses assistance intended to help someone avoid arrest or punishment.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing. The charges are allegations, and all three defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
