A gunman remains at large after a 36-year-old man was shot early Sunday near Corona Parkway and East 181st Street in the Bronx. Officers from the 48th Precinct found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his armpit, and he was listed in stable condition. No arrests have been announced, and police have not identified a motive.
Gunfire erupted shortly before 2 a.m., according to amNewYork. EMS transported the injured man to Saint Barnabas Hospital, while detectives continued working to determine what led to the shooting.
Police Describe Suspect In All Black
Investigators said the suspected gunman is about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and was dressed entirely in black. He fled in an unknown direction, and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or seen the suspect nearby to come forward.

Bronx Shooting Trends Show A Mixed Picture
The shooting comes as New York City reports historically low gun-violence numbers overall. In its first-half crime update, the NYPD said the city recorded its fewest shooting incidents and shooting victims for that period in recorded history.
At the neighborhood level, however, the picture is less tidy: amNewYork reports that NYPD data shows shooting victims in the 48th Precinct up 11.1% so far this year, while shooting incidents increased 6.2%. The latest case remains under investigation.
