A 42-year-old detainee escaped from a Bronx hospital Friday afternoon, prompting an NYPD search that quickly moved from street patrols to the sky. The man reportedly left wearing a hospital gown and black sweatpants, giving officers a notably limited wardrobe to work with.
According to a report by News 12 New York, the man fled around 2:40 p.m. from Bronx-Lebanon Hospital. Citizen App footage showed police conducting a broad search with ground units and helicopters, while information about the crime he allegedly committed was not immediately released.
Police Search Focuses On Grand Concourse Hospital Area
The facility is now officially known as BronxCare Hospital Center, although the Bronx-Lebanon name remains common in local coverage. BronxCare lists the hospital at 1650 Grand Concourse, the location identified in the escape report.
