St. Petersburg is putting its construction and contracting network under one roof today, as local businesses gather for a free expo focused on growth, connections and potential opportunities. The event is aimed at turning a few morning conversations into actual business leads.
Build St. Pete, the city’s third annual construction expo, runs Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Coliseum, with networking, workshops and more than 80 vendor booths. The city says the event is designed to help businesses of all sizes meet industry leaders, find potential partners and position themselves for growth, according to the city’s announcement.

Free Event Connects Businesses With Construction Opportunities
The event is open to homeowners, residents, businesses and municipal partners, with business owners invited to showcase their services and network with buyers from multiple agencies. The city’s event registration page lists sessions on doing business with the city and major projects and opportunities being developed across Tampa Bay.
Vendor tables are limited to construction and related businesses, and the registration page says all available tables have been filled. Attendees can still use the expo to learn about contracting pathways, meet suppliers and connect with organizations involved in the region’s steady stream of building activity.
Supplier Development Office Handles City Certification Programs
Build St. Pete is organized through the City of St. Petersburg’s Office of Supplier Development, which was created after a 2021 disparity study to promote fair and equal business opportunities in city procurement. According to the city’s supplier development office, the department certifies Small Business Enterprise and Minority/Women’s Business Enterprise programs, monitors contract compliance and provides training and business support.
