Capstone Church has opened an expanded campus at 601 Fairview St. in Fountain Inn, adding roughly 14,288 square feet of building space that includes a gymnasium, a new central lobby and expanded children's ministry areas. More than 750 people turned out this past Sunday for the church's grand opening celebration, capping a project years in the making for the fast-growing Upstate South Carolina congregation.
Walt Tanner, the church's vision and teaching pastor, said the celebration represented more than opening a building, according to Greenville Journal. Tanner said the new campus is meant to be a place where people can encounter Jesus, families can build relationships, and the community can find hope and belonging, the outlet reported.
Five Years of Planning Meets a 10-Month Build
The finished building is the product of the church's "Advance the Kingdom" project, which broke ground in August 2025 and took about 10 months to complete, per the same report. Capstone Church continued to operate throughout construction, holding services and programs even as crews worked on the adjoining campus.
Prescott said the project was unique because the church continued operating throughout construction, according to the same report. The outlet also credited P+F Construction and Equip Architects as the two firms behind the Advance the Kingdom project team.
Builder Founded Just Before Taking on Church's Biggest Project
P+F Construction, the construction manager for the build, was founded in 2020 by Will Prescott and Steve Foushee, according to a report from Who's On the Move. The firm is a full-service construction firm, the outlet noted.
A Campus Designed for Every Day of the Week
The design behind the new building traces back to spring 2021, when Capstone Church hired Greenville-based Equip Studio to draft a master plan for a campus meant to function as a seven-day-a-week community hub rather than a Sunday-only building. Architectural plans called for high ceilings, warm wood tones, operable doors linking indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, a café with an outdoor patio, and expanded children's ministry check-in areas, per the firm's portfolio page.
Beyond the gymnasium and multi-purpose worship space, the finished campus includes a new central lobby and welcome area, staff offices and meeting spaces, outdoor gathering areas and a playground, and additional parking and site improvements, the outlet reported. Church leaders say the added space increases opportunities to serve the surrounding community throughout the week, not just on Sundays.
Financing the Multi-Year Expansion in Phases
Capstone Church launched the Advance the Kingdom capital campaign in September 2022 to fund the facility expansion, according to a church blog post. The campaign was introduced to support the church's expansion.
The church financed the first phase of the project, covering outdoor gathering spaces, green space, sidewalks and expanded parking, through Seed Financial Services, a lending subsidiary of the Baptist Foundation of South Carolina, per the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Capstone paid off that Phase 1 loan before securing additional financing for the building construction phase, the organization said.
Deep Roots in Fountain Inn
Capstone Church's presence on the Fairview Street property dates back to around 2014, when it merged with Fairview Street Baptist Church.
That growth eventually outpaced the original building. Before the expansion, Capstone had been running three separate Sunday morning services just to accommodate its congregation, per the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
Fountain Inn's Population Boom Driving the Demand
The church's growing pains mirror what's happening across Fountain Inn itself. The city's estimated population reached 15,551 in 2026, a 47.95% jump from the 10,511 residents counted in the 2020 census, according to World Population Review.
