Detroit’s art museum is making room this weekend for the internet’s most reliable stars: cats behaving badly, brilliantly and sometimes for reasons known only to cats. The Detroit Institute of Arts is bringing CatVideoFest 2026 back to its Detroit Film Theatre for five screenings packed into three days.
The annual compilation features a curated mix of entertaining, surprising and endearing cat videos, along with clips submitted directly to festival organizers, according to WXYZ. The weekend run starts Friday evening and continues through Sunday afternoon.
Five Detroit Screenings Stretch Across The Weekend
The Detroit Institute of Arts lists the 70-minute film at 7 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. General admission is $11.50, while DIA members, seniors and students pay $9.50.
That makes the event an easy fit for families, cat devotees and anyone who would rather spend an afternoon watching a feline launch itself off furniture than sit through another superhero sequel. The film will screen at the Detroit Film Theatre inside the DIA.
The Cat Clips Come With A Charitable Mission
CatVideoFest is more than a highlight reel of internet cat antics. The festival’s organizers say a portion of ticket revenue supports animal welfare associations, shelters and cat-focused charities in each state where the event plays.
The broader CatVideoFest project describes itself as a social-purpose corporation dedicated to bringing cat videos to theaters while raising money for cats in need, according to the festival’s official website. For Detroit attendees, the local show is at 5200 Woodward Avenue, with tickets available in advance through the DIA event page.
