A Chambersburg man is sitting in Franklin County Jail without bail after police say he ran a forced prostitution operation out of his own home, holding a woman who had been lured from Queens, New York, with the promise of a restaurant job. Abimael Garcia-Vilchiz, 35, faces a felony count of involuntary servitude by harm or restraint, and a second man arrested at the same address faces a drug charge.
The case broke open on August 9, when someone contacted the Chambersburg Police Department to report being held against their will on the unit block of North 3rd Street, according to Tri-State Alert. Officers executed a search warrant at the home and say they found condoms, tally ledgers, personal lubricants, and sums of U.S. currency inside, per police accounts cited by the outlet. Investigators say cameras had been located and disabled inside the home so the victim could contact police undetected.
Police identified the man the victim knew as “Jorge” as Garcia-Vilchiz, who they say owns the residence and controls money from people who come there for sexual favors, according to police. The victim told investigators she had not been paid in over two months and had gone without eating for more than a week out of fear that her family in Queens would be harmed if she tried to leave. Jorge reportedly threatened that something bad would happen to her family in Queens if she left.
How the Victim Was Brought to Chambersburg
The woman was allegedly brought from Queens to what she believed was a restaurant job, only to be forced to operate a house of prostitution once she arrived in Chambersburg. A second man, Rafael Jimenez-Martinez, was arrested at the same residence around 6:15 a.m. on August 9. He is charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance after police say he possessed a small baggie containing suspected cocaine. Jimenez-Martinez remains incarcerated in Franklin County Jail on $200,000 bail, while Garcia-Vilchiz was denied bail outright. Police say additional charges remain under investigation.

Garcia-Vilchiz has a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 18 in Franklin County following his arrest, according to FOX43 News.
