The storm threat is not letting up: more rounds are expected through the afternoon and evening, bringing a serious risk of flooding and potentially damaging winds.
Flood Watch Runs Through Wednesday Morning
A Flood Watch covers Columbus and much of central Ohio through Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service Wilmington. Forecast rainfall totals could reach 1 to 2 inches Tuesday, followed by another three-quarters to 1 inch Tuesday night, with repeated storms raising the risk of flash flooding in low-lying areas, streams and poor-drainage spots.
Most Dangerous Storms May Arrive Later
Scattered storms are possible much of the day, but the strongest threat is expected from the afternoon into the evening. The NWS forecast discussion says a well-organized storm line could produce wind gusts of 75 mph or higher, with embedded tornadoes and large hail also possible. Residents should secure loose outdoor items, keep phones charged and avoid flooded roads, dips and underpasses.

Tuesday's high should reach about 85 degrees before temperatures fall to around 69 overnight, with additional heavy rain possible after dark. Wednesday stays near 85 with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, while Thursday remains unsettled; a drier stretch is more likely late Friday into Saturday before storm chances return Sunday.
