San Antonio's luxury shopping scene is about to get another high-end fragrance counter: Creed is opening its first standalone store in the city at The Shops at La Cantera, with the boutique expected to arrive in September. The move gives local Aventus devotees a dedicated place to browse the brand's polished scent lineup instead of hunting bottles down at department stores or a barbershop.
Creed Boutique Targets September Finish At La Cantera
According to CultureMap San Antonio, Creed will take over the former Johnny Was space at The Shops at La Cantera and could open as early as September 2026. The project is a 1,465-square-foot boutique, with construction expected to finish in mid-September; Creed had not supplied a more precise opening date when the report was published.
Creed's official store locator lists The Gents Place in San Antonio, along with company boutiques in Houston and NorthPark Dallas. That makes the La Cantera location a shift toward a dedicated brand environment rather than another fragrance counter tucked inside a larger retailer.
As CultureMap San Antonio reports, Creed is already sold at Neiman Marcus and The Gents Place in the Dominion. Similar Creed stores offer more than perfume, with candles, body care, and leather accessories also in the mix.
A Royal Origin Story, With The Brand's Own Footnotes
The House of Creed's official history says it was founded in London in 1760 by James Henry Creed as a tailoring house serving British royalty and aristocracy before evolving into French haute perfumery. The company also ties its early scented goods to leather gloves, shoes, belts, and sword scabbards—an origin story considerably more elaborate than simply saying it makes a great cologne.
That mythology comes with an asterisk. Gabe Oppenheim's The Ghost Perfumer project disputes parts of Creed's historical narrative and alleges that Olivier Creed took credit for work by perfumer Pierre Bourdon, claims that Creed has not endorsed.
Creed Arrives Under New Luxury-Beauty Ownership
The San Antonio opening also comes during a corporate handoff. In a March 31, 2026, announcement, L'Oréal said it had completed its acquisition of Kering Beauté, including the House of Creed.
Creed is joining a broader luxury push at La Cantera, where more designer labels are claiming dedicated storefronts. Hoodline previously reported that Dolce & Gabbana is planning its first standalone San Antonio shop at the center, adding another glossy nameplate to the Northwest Side retail lineup.
