A 38-year-old woman is facing a murder charge after a 27-year-old man was found shot to death inside a Creedmoor home last Saturday, bringing an arrest to a case that had initially left police searching for answers.
Officers arrived shortly after 4:15 p.m. at a home in the 1600 block of Irving Place and found Charles Tryon Royster fatally wounded, according to ABC11. Kelly Marie Royster was arrested and charged with murder before being taken to the Granville County Detention Center, where she was held without bond.
The arrest follows an earlier phase of the investigation in which police identified the victim and sought information from the public. WRAL reported that investigators were examining the relationship between the people involved, while the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was assisting with the case.
Police Have Not Disclosed The Pair’s Connection
Authorities have not said how Royster and Charles Tryon Royster were connected, or what led to the shooting. Creedmoor Police Chief Troy Wheless said the arrest reflected the department’s “dedication, professionalism, and relentless commitment,” according to ABC11.
The investigation remains active, and police said additional arrests or charges may follow. Anyone facing a murder charge is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court, and the criminal case will determine what evidence prosecutors present and what happens next.
