Cristela Alonzo is coming back to the city where she first got on stage. The comedian, writer, and actress will bring The Midlife Mixtape Tour to downtown Dallas's Majestic Theatre on Saturday, February 27, 2027, with presale tickets opening yesterday and general sales starting today.
The Dallas stop marks something of a homecoming for Alonzo, who got her early start in stand-up comedy performing in the city before she moved to Los Angeles and, at one point, lived in her car while trying to break into the industry, according to The Dinner Party Download. She eventually moved back to Texas to care for her mother before landing her network television breakthrough. Tickets for the show are being sold through venue partner AXS, as reported by CultureMap Dallas.
Alonzo's résumé stretches well beyond the stand-up stage. Per the same event listing, she created and starred in the ABC sitcom Cristela, appeared in Cars 3, and also appeared in the Netflix film The Laundromat. In 2014, she made television history as the first Mexican-American woman to create, produce, write, and star in her own network sitcom, a milestone documented by Wikipedia. The show, a semi-autobiographical comedy, ran for one season on ABC.
From the Rio Grande Valley to the Big Screen
Alonzo was born in Hidalgo, Texas, and raised in San Juan in the Rio Grande Valley, where she spent the first seven years of her life squatting with her family in an abandoned diner, according to Cristela Alonzo. Those childhood experiences with poverty frequently surface as material in her stand-up and writing. She later became the first Latina to play a lead voice role in a Disney-Pixar feature film, voicing race trainer Cruz Ramirez in the 2017 animated hit Cars 3, per Levity Live.

The tour title draws directly from Alonzo's 2019 mixtape-formatted memoir, Music to My Years: A Mixtape Memoir of Growing Up and Standing Up, published through Atria Books, which framed major events of her first-generation Mexican-American upbringing around influential pop songs, according to Porchlight Book Company. That music-driven storytelling style carries through her recently completed Netflix stand-up trilogy. Lower Classy arrived in 2017, and Middle Classy followed in June 2022, with Upper Classy capping the series in September 2025, humorously charting her transition from poverty to midlife financial stability.

Inside the Historic Majestic Theatre
The venue hosting Alonzo's return is steeped in Dallas history. Opened on April 11, 1921, as a vaudeville venue on downtown Dallas's historic Theatre Row on Elm Street, the Renaissance Revival-style Majestic Theatre was designed by architect John Eberson and is the last surviving theater from the city's original downtown entertainment district, according to the Texas State Historical Association. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
Located at 1925 Elm St., the theater is owned and operated by the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture and seats up to 1,704 people, according to city records cited by Wikipedia. The building reopened in 1983 following a multi-million-dollar municipal restoration project, giving it a second life as one of downtown Dallas's premier performance spaces.
