Sunday Stays Mostly Sunny And Dry
Most of the District should stay dry Sunday, although an isolated shower or thunderstorm could pop up nearby during the afternoon. The National Weather Service says the main concerns for any storm would be brief heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds. No watches or warnings are currently posted for Washington.
Monday Brings The Week’s Worst Heat
Monday looks hotter, with a high near 96 degrees and heat index values reaching about 103. A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives after 2 p.m., and stronger storms could produce gusts up to 18 mph, frequent lightning and locally heavy rain.
Storm Chances Rise Tuesday And Wednesday
The unsettled pattern becomes more noticeable Tuesday, when temperatures reach about 92 and the chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms jumps to 70%. Wednesday stays warm near 90 with a 40% storm chance, followed by additional showers and thunderstorms Thursday.
Cooler Air May Finally Arrive Late Week
Friday’s high is expected to fall to about 86, with overnight temperatures dipping into the upper 60s. Saturday should be mostly sunny after a slight chance of an early shower, while a late-week cold front could bring some relief from the heat and humidity.
