Dallas is heading into a dangerous stretch of heat today, with sunny skies and an afternoon high near 106 degrees. An Extreme Heat Warning will be in effect from noon to 8 p.m., when temperatures could reach 108 degrees and heat index values may climb as high as 107.
Extreme Heat Warning Arrives At Noon
A Heat Advisory remains in effect through noon before the more serious warning takes over across much of North Texas. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth urges residents to drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing, limit strenuous outdoor activity and check on neighbors who may be especially vulnerable to the heat.
South-southwest winds will stay relatively light at 5 to 10 mph, offering little relief during the hottest part of the day. The most dangerous conditions are expected from roughly 2 to 7 p.m., and children and pets should never be left in parked vehicles, even briefly.
Triple-Digit Heat Holds Through The Weekend
The heat does not let up after today. Tomorrow will reach about 105 degrees, followed by highs near 104 Thursday and Friday, 105 Saturday and next Sunday, and 104 next Monday, with overnight lows mostly stuck between 81 and 82 degrees.
Rain chances will remain close to zero through most of the week, according to the National Weather Service forecast. A slight chance of showers could arrive late Saturday night or early next Sunday, but the broader outlook remains hot, sunny, and largely dry.
Dry Air Adds Fire Risk
Afternoon humidity is expected to fall to around 20% to 30%, which can help temperatures feel slightly less oppressive but also dries out grasses and other fuels. Officials are warning residents to avoid activities that could spark a grass fire as drought conditions worsen, even though winds are expected to remain light.
