A routine Dallas traffic stop ended with a 62-year-old man in jail after police accused him of giving drugs to a 14-year-old runaway and sexually assaulting her over three days. David Michael Klepak is being held without bond on a second-degree felony charge of sexual assault of a child.
The girl ran away from home last Wednesday and was recovered by an acquaintance on Sunday after reportedly disclosing the assault. According to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth, an arrest affidavit says Klepak approached her in a luxury vehicle, offered her a ride and then gave her methamphetamine before taking her to his Dallas home.
During a forensic interview at the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, the teenager provided descriptions that investigators used to identify Klepak and his residence. She reportedly described the duplex as extremely messy, with items everywhere, and said it was associated with a Bentley, Lexus and two BMWs, as detailed by FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth.
Dallas police investigators later found Klepak driving a white 2015 luxury vehicle near his home. After a traffic violation prompted a stop, officers arrested him, and an inventory search of his Bentley reportedly found approximately 17 glass pipes containing residue.
What The Texas Charge Means
Klepak was charged with sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony under the circumstances described in the arrest case. The Texas Constitution and Statutes outline the offense, but the charge remains an allegation unless proved in court.
The affidavit says Klepak was read his Miranda rights during an interview at Dallas Police Headquarters and confessed to sexually assaulting the teenager. He remains jailed without bond as the case moves forward.
