Dallas starts today under clear skies and in the low 80s, but the calm morning will give way to a punishing afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach 102 degrees, with the heat index climbing as high as 106.
Afternoon Winds Pick Up
South winds will run 10 to 15 mph and could gust to 25 mph as the day heats up. The forecast calls for sunny skies and no rain, making shade, water and shorter outdoor breaks especially important.
The National Weather Service says the region’s dry pattern is also raising wildfire concerns. Afternoon humidity could fall into the 20% to 30% range, while gusty winds and a lack of meaningful rainfall create more favorable conditions for grass and brush fires.
Triple-Digit Heat Hangs On
Tomorrow through Saturday will remain sunny, with highs near 101 and overnight lows around 79 to 80. The heat intensifies next Sunday through Tuesday, when Dallas could see highs of 103, 104, and 103 degrees, respectively, with little to no rain in sight.
No watches, warnings or advisories are currently posted for the forecast area, but the prolonged heat still carries health risks. The City of Dallas' summer heat guidance recommends using air-conditioned public facilities such as libraries and recreation centers during regular business hours, while staying hydrated and checking on people who may be especially vulnerable.
