Dallas is starting today under clear skies near 79 degrees, but the cool morning will give way to another triple-digit afternoon. The high is expected to reach 100 degrees, with heat-index values as high as 104, and the hotter pattern is set to linger through the weekend.
Triple-Digit Heat Builds Through Sunday
Tomorrow could reach 101 degrees with a heat index near 105, followed by highs around 102 from Wednesday through next Sunday. Overnight lows will mostly stay near 80 or 81 degrees, leaving Dallas with limited relief after sunset.
The National Weather Service Fort Worth says today’s heat will be paired with mostly sunny skies and south winds. Anyone working or exercising outdoors should plan around the afternoon peak, take frequent breaks and keep water close.
Rain Chance Stays Mostly South
Dallas has only a slight chance of rain today, with the forecast showing a 6% chance during the day and 9% tonight. Very isolated storms are possible south of Interstate 20 during the afternoon and evening, with the best odds south of U.S. 84 and east of Interstate 35.
A strong or severe wind gust cannot be ruled out in any storm that develops, but rain chances drop to zero in the Dallas forecast from Tuesday onward. The rest of the week is expected to stay sunny and dry.
South Winds Raise Fire-Weather Concern
Winds will strengthen as the week progresses, reaching sustained speeds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts from 25 to 35 mph across parts of North and Central Texas. Afternoon humidity is expected to run from roughly 25% to 40%, with Thursday potentially becoming the driest day in areas west of the U.S. 281 corridor.
That combination of heat, wind and dry air will gradually increase the wildfire threat, so residents should use extra caution with outdoor flames and postpone strenuous outdoor work when temperatures peak.
