A large contingent of Orange County deputies gathered near an Orlando home Tuesday as authorities searched for a missing 71-year-old man with memory loss. The heavy law-enforcement presence quickly turned a quiet residential area into the center of an urgent search.
Jorge Vazquez Escutia was reported missing just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to WESH 2. Deputies said he was last seen near the 8600 block of Hal Court, and described him as about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. The sheriff's office said it was concerned for Escutia's well-being because he suffers from memory loss.
Officials Ask Orlando Residents To Stay Alert
The Orange County Sheriff's Office asks anyone who has information about a missing person to call 407-254-7000, or 407-836-HELP after 5 p.m., according to the agency's missing-person guidance. Anyone who sees Escutia should contact law enforcement immediately rather than attempt to handle the situation alone.
Residents can also submit anonymous information through Central Florida CrimeLine, which accepts tips online and by phone at 800-423-TIPS (8477), according to the CrimeLine program. Authorities have not publicly announced Escutia's whereabouts.
