A 54-year-old Detroit man has been missing for nearly a week after a brief call to his daughter in which he said he was scared. His family says he is without his phone, wallet and medication needed for a serious blood-clotting disorder.
Mike Wutzke was last in contact with his daughter on Saturday, July 25, according to ClickOnDetroit. Relatives say he was last seen near the CVS at 9 Mile Road and Schoenherr Road in Warren, and may have disappeared near Outer Drive and Van Dyke in Detroit while trying to visit an old friend.
Wutzke’s daughter filed a missing-person report with Detroit police and met officers at a house near Outer Drive and Van Dyke, where investigators recovered his phone and wallet. His nephew, Justin Wutzke, told ClickOnDetroit, “We just want him found,” as relatives continued calling hospitals, jails and homeless shelters for information.
Family Says Wutzke Needs His Medication
Relatives say Wutzke has a blood-clotting disorder and needs his medication. They also report that he has bipolar disorder, mental health concerns and a history of mental health episodes.
Wutzke is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and was last seen wearing a blue shirt. His family says he may be thinner than shown in older photographs, a detail they want people to keep in mind while looking for him.
Detroit Police Ask For Information
The Detroit Police Department’s 5th Precinct is handling the case, Warren police confirmed to ClickOnDetroit. Anyone with information about Wutzke’s whereabouts is asked to call the precinct at 313-596-5500, a number listed by the City of Detroit.
Family members plan to distribute flyers near the Warren CVS on Saturday, August 1, hoping someone remembers seeing Wutzke or has information about where he may have gone. They are asking anyone who may have seen him or knows where he is to contact Detroit police as soon as possible.
