A storefront on Milwaukee's East Side that has cycled through burritos, art shows and ghost-kitchen fried chicken over the past decade has a new tenant: Dosa District, which now serves crispy dosas, fluffy idlis and golden vadas alongside spicy hot chicken at 2335 N. Murray Ave.
The fast-casual concept pairs traditional South Indian vegetarian staples with Nashville-style hot chicken options, according to DoorDash. As Urban Milwaukee reports, the new business supplants The Gallery, the previous tenant at the Murray Hill address.
A Storefront With a Layered History
Before Dosa District, the space operated as The Gallery Food Hall, which opened in July 2023 under chef-owner Kamal Shkoukani as a hybrid dining and art space, blending delivery-focused food concepts with rotating gallery displays. The Wisconsin Muslim Journal notes that Shkoukani designed the venue to serve as an alcohol-free social space for local creatives. In January 2024, the same building hosted a community art exhibition titled “For Palestine, For Humanity,” which raised $3,200 for Gaza humanitarian relief while operating as an East Side gallery space, per the same account.
The hot chicken element folded into the Murray Avenue location traces back even further. Chef Shkoukani launched Secret Hot Chicken at the Paper Table ghost kitchen in Downtown Milwaukee in late 2022 before expanding the brand to the East Side, and he reportedly perfected his hot chicken recipes out of his home kitchen after living in Los Angeles.
From Walk-Up Burritos to a Rock Musician's Real Estate
Long before any of that, the building was home to Mr. Señors, a popular walk-up, cash-only Mexican eatery founded in 2010 by Dude Llanas that served the East Side neighborhood for 12 years, known for late-night burritos and simple walk-up service, before closing in October 2022. City property records show the 3,047-square-foot commercial building at 2333-2335 N. Murray Ave. is owned by Sam Llanas, a former member of the Milwaukee-formed rock band The BoDeans, with a total assessed value of $426,900 in 2025.
The storefront sits directly next to Paddy's Pub, a long-running neighborhood bar whose patrons have historically brought in carry-out food from neighboring restaurants — a dynamic that has helped sustain a rotating cast of food businesses at the address over the years.
Who's Behind the New Concept
Dosa District is operated by Ganesha Ventures LLC, whose agent, Chandrakanth R. Dareddy, and stockholder, Vikas Raavi, a Franklin, Wisconsin resident, filed business license applications with municipal authorities according to City of Milwaukee Legistar records. Those same records show that in March 2025, the LLC applied to the city's Licenses Committee for an extended-hours license that would have allowed the establishment to stay open until 3:30 a.m. daily. Committee members instead required the business to abide by a midnight closing time under its food dealer license, with the extended-hours request held pending neighborhood review as a new district alderperson took office.

Dosa District has set up digital ordering and delivery availability across DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub, maintaining the delivery-heavy model previously used by ghost kitchens at the location, according to Grubhub listings for the restaurant. For East Side diners tracking the Murray Avenue address's evolution — from burritos to art shows to hot chicken — the latest chapter arrives with a familiar emphasis on apps and delivery over late-night dine-in hours.
