Downtown Los Angeles is headed for a sunny, hot Friday, with temperatures climbing toward 90 degrees and little wind to take the edge off the afternoon heat. The warm stretch is not a one-day cameo: highs should hover around 90 through Monday before pushing into the low-to-mid 90s Tuesday through Thursday.
Sunny Afternoons, Mild Nights
Friday and Saturday are both forecast to reach 90 degrees, followed by a high near 91 Sunday and around 90 Monday. Nights will offer only modest relief, with lows mostly between 69 and 71 degrees under mostly clear skies.
The overnight forecast included only a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms before dawn Friday, but the daytime forecast is sunny with no meaningful rain chance. The latest outlook from the National Weather Service keeps Downtown Los Angeles dry through Thursday.
Heat Builds Midweek
Temperatures rise to about 93 degrees Tuesday and 94 Wednesday, before easing slightly to 93 Thursday under sunny or mostly sunny skies. Forecasters say areas away from the coast could run 5 to 10 degrees above seasonal averages as the pattern holds.
Light Downtown Winds, Stronger Gusts Elsewhere
Downtown should see generally light south-southwest winds, ranging from calm to about 10 mph, with the strongest breeze arriving during the afternoon. Much gustier conditions are expected farther inland, especially in the Antelope Valley and nearby valley foothills, where gusts could reach 35 to 40 mph.
Plan Outdoor Time Around The Heat
Outdoor plans will be most comfortable earlier in the day or after the afternoon peak, particularly as the hotter weather arrives next week. Drink water, take regular breaks in shade or air conditioning, and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.
