Durham CrimeStoppers is offering up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest in the unsolved homicide of Servante Broadway, a 16-year-old whose death has remained unresolved since October 2023. The renewed appeal puts a cash incentive behind a case that began with a body found in a wooded area and left investigators still seeking answers.
The Durham Police Department’s Tuesday appeal identifies Broadway as the victim and asks anyone with information to contact Investigator C. Bernock at 919-560-4440, ext. 29414. The department also directs tipsters to CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200 or its online submission system, according to the police appeal.
The Case Began With A Body Found In East Durham
On Oct. 6, 2023, a tree-service worker found a body around 8:04 a.m. in a wooded area in the 200 block of East End Avenue, according to WRAL. Police initially said they could not identify the victim and described him as a Black male with a slim build, while investigators treated the death as a homicide. A green pocketknife bearing an emblem reading “Rangers: Lead the Way” was found with the body, a detail police shared in hopes it would help jog someone’s memory.
Anonymous Tips Could Lead To A Cash Reward
CrimeStoppers says callers do not have to identify themselves, and its program pays rewards ranging from $100 to $2,000 depending on the seriousness of the felony and the value of the information. The Broadway appeal says tipsters can speak with operators in English or Spanish, call 919-683-1200, or submit a tip online.
