Jeffersonville will turn dinner into a civic duty next Tuesday, when a tasting event raises money for a Southern Indiana program that connects older adults with meaningful volunteer roles. The menu is local, but the payoff is measured in community service hours, not just second helpings.
The annual Taste of Southern Indiana runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Eastside Christian Church, with samplings from more than 20 Southern Indiana eateries. According to WDRB, the evening will also feature live music from the Jamey Aebersold Quartet, a silent auction and $35 tickets.
The gathering is scheduled for next Tuesday at Eastside Christian Church on Veterans Parkway, according to the official listing from Hope Southern Indiana.
Where The Fundraiser’s Money Goes
The event offers a chance to sample food from across the region, and guests can eat, listen to the quartet and browse silent-auction items under one roof, which is a fairly efficient way to turn an evening out into a community investment.
Hope Southern Indiana says RSVP connects people age 55 and older with volunteer opportunities throughout Southern Indiana. Its program page lists service placements at soup kitchens, food pantries, hospitals, health care facilities, animal shelters, thrift shops, libraries, schools and through calls to people who are homebound, with 900 members contributing over 80,000 hours across five counties.

Tickets cost $35, making the event an easy way to support older adults who are still putting their time and talents to work across Southern Indiana.
