Flower Child, the salad-and-bowl chain known for scratch-made healthy fare, is planning a second Plano restaurant at 5700 Legacy Drive, Suite A1, in a space currently occupied by Samui Thai Cuisine. The move would give the fast-casual brand its eighth Dallas-Fort Worth location and its second in Plano, following a 2024 opening near Preston Road and Park Boulevard.

According to Community Impact, Flower Child already operates seven locations across Dallas-Fort Worth and serves a menu built around salads, bowls and wraps, including dishes like cauliflower risotto, steamed brown rice, red chile glazed sweet potato and olive oil roasted vegetables. The outlet reports that facility renovations at the Legacy Drive site are set to begin December 15, and will cover architectural, structural, food service, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems, per a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. An opening date for the new location has not yet been announced.

The Legacy Drive buildout carries more specific numbers than initial reporting suggested. Construction for the site is estimated at $1.5 million and will span 4,855 total square feet, including 3,931 square feet of interior dining space and a 924-square-foot outdoor patio, according to state regulatory filings reported by Local Profile. That reporting also indicates construction is slated for completion by March 31, 2027.

A Local Thai Restaurant Makes Way

The Legacy Drive space Flower Child is set to take over currently belongs to Samui Thai Cuisine, a family-owned restaurant named after Ko Samui island in Thailand, according to a Visit Plano listing. The restaurant has served as a sit-down and delivery dining spot in West Plano.

Flower Child's first Plano restaurant opened near Preston Road and Park Boulevard in 2024, roughly a year after the company registered that location, at 2101 Preston Road in the Preston Park Colonnade, with the state in June 2023, per Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records. The chain's earliest North Texas foothold dates back further still: Flower Child made its Dallas-area debut at 2101 Cedar Springs Road in Uptown, as Hoodline first reported in 2019.

Corporate Muscle Behind a Fast-Growing Chain

Flower Child was founded by restaurateur Sam Fox in Phoenix, Arizona, in April 2014, launched as a full-kitchen, scratch-made fast-casual concept built around organic produce and customizable grain bowls, according to Nation's Restaurant News. Fox's company, Fox Restaurant Concepts, was acquired by The Cheesecake Factory Inc. in October 2019 in a deal valued at over $308 million, according to SEC filings.

That corporate backing appears to be paying off. Restaurant Business reported in February 2025 that Flower Child posted an 11% year-over-year same-store sales increase in the fourth quarter of 2024, pushing average weekly store sales to $83,000 and prompting executives to project long-term growth toward more than 200 locations nationwide. The brand's push into North Texas suburbs isn't limited to Plano — Community Impact reported in July 2026 that Flower Child signed a lease to join Frisco's $800 million, 55-acre Fields West development, in addition to a separate Frisco location planned for 5501 Fields Parkway.

West Plano's Bigger Redevelopment Picture

Flower Child's Legacy Drive expansion lands amid a broader wave of investment in the corridor. On Monday, the Plano City Council approved expanding the Legacy area Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone by nearly 1,800 acres, a redevelopment financing tool expected to generate more than $488 million in revenue for district improvements, according to Community Impact.

That expansion follows a separate move in June, when the Plano City Council established a new tax increment reinvestment zone along the Dallas North Tollway to allocate up to $700 million toward a proposed sports and entertainment district anchored by a new Dallas Stars arena, per the same outlet's reporting. Together, the two financing zones point to a city leaning hard into commercial reinvestment across West Plano's retail and entertainment corridors, with Flower Child's new location representing just one piece of that shifting tenant mix at The Shops at Legacy.
