Gary Sinise is bringing his late son’s music to Milwaukee on August 28 and 29, turning two nights at Skylight Music Theatre into a world-premiere concert and deeply personal tribute. Graceful Warrior will put the work of McCanna “Mac” Sinise at the center of an evening built around orchestral arrangements, family stories and the long afterlife of a creative legacy.
The performances will be staged at the Cabot Theatre inside Skylight Music Theatre, with an orchestra, members of Sinise’s Lt. Dan Band and selections from Mac’s three original albums, according to WTMJ. Sinise is expected to appear onstage, narrating the concert and sharing stories about Mac, the music and the family’s journey.
A World Premiere Built From Mac’s Music
Skylight Music Theatre describes the event as a 25-piece-orchestra benefit concert built from original orchestral works by Mac and longtime collaborator Oliver Schnee, with video elements inspired by Mac’s life. Proceeds will support the Milwaukee theater, and tickets start at $45, with $65 VIP seats and a $40 military rate, according to Skylight Music Theatre.
Mac studied at the University of Southern California’s music school before joining the Gary Sinise Foundation in 2017, where he worked with veterans and managed its Education and Outreach Center, WTMJ reported. He was diagnosed with chordoma, a rare spinal cancer, and the illness eventually left him unable to walk or play the drums before his death on January 5, 2024.
From Private Grief To Public Performance
Before his death, Mac completed Resurrection & Revival, and Sinise later found additional compositions, demos and lyrics on his son’s phone and laptop. Those discoveries led to two additional posthumous albums and now form the musical spine of Graceful Warrior, as detailed by Skylight Music Theatre.
The Milwaukee concerts also arrive ahead of Sinise’s upcoming memoir, Graceful Warrior: The True Story of a Son, a Father, and a Family Who Carried Each Other Through. The Gary Sinise Foundation says the book is scheduled for release on November 10, 2026 — Mac’s birthday — extending a project that began as a father’s effort to preserve his son’s art into a public story about love, loss and hope.
