What began as an attempted vehicle theft at a Glendale apartment complex turned into an exchange of gunfire early Monday, leaving one person wounded and four people in custody. The injured person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while police said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
According to WTMJ, Glendale police were dispatched near North Sidney Place at about 1:45 a.m. after receiving a report of armed people trying to steal a vehicle. Investigators said shots were exchanged before officers arrived, and one person was struck and taken to a local hospital.
Four People Remain In Custody After Early-Morning Gunfire
A Glendale Police Department update identified those in custody as a 33-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman from Glendale, along with two 17-year-olds from Milwaukee and Sheboygan. Police have not said which person was injured.
Authorities also have not announced what charges the people in custody may face. The department described the incident as isolated and said there was no continuing danger to residents or others in the area.

The gunfire unfolded during an attempted theft, a crime Glendale officials warn can quickly create broader risks. On its auto-theft prevention page, the city says stolen vehicles are often used in other crimes and urges residents to report a theft immediately.
The episode follows a separate May shooting at a Glendale home that sent a 22-year-old man to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Hoodline reported that police in that case also described the incident as isolated and said there was no ongoing threat, though authorities have not indicated any connection between the two cases.
