A Kansas-based indoor golf franchise with more than 40 locations nationwide is preparing to open a new training center in Oak Ridge North, according to a state project filing. GolfTRK plans to renovate a 2,228-square-foot space at 27605 Robinson Road, Suite B, with construction slated to begin September 7 and wrap by November 2, 2026.
The project was filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, as first reported by Community Impact. State licensing records reviewed separately show the build-out carries an estimated construction value of about $290,000, roughly $130 per square foot, with property owner Robinson 383 Industrial LP and design firm MSW Store Roll Out Services overseeing the tenant fit-out, according to Zabalist. GolfTRK is based in Prairie Village, Kansas, and describes itself on its website as using modern technology alongside traditional instruction to help golfers improve their swing.
The company was founded in the Kansas City area by co-founders Alex Reed and Matt Williams as a performance-focused facility rather than an arcade-style entertainment venue, built around TrackMan launch monitors, PuttView laser alignment systems, and a proprietary Noonan mobile app, according to Startland News. Franchise industry figures published this year put the minimum liquid capital needed to open a GolfTRK location at $150,000, with typical sites spanning three to six hitting bays and offering members 19-hour daily access, 365 days a year, per America's Best Franchises.
Texas Expansion Follows Coppell Debut
Oak Ridge North would not be GolfTRK's first Texas location. The brand established its footprint in the state in January 2026, when franchisee Chris Merrill opened a location in Coppell following a special use permit the Coppell City Council approved in August 2025, according to the Coppell Chronicle. To support its broader rollout, GolfTRK has also announced plans for a 6,700-square-foot flagship facility and national headquarters at the Shops of Prairie Village redevelopment in Kansas this year, according to the Johnson County Post.
The Oak Ridge North site sits along Robinson Road, a corridor that recently underwent a $7.42 million realignment and widening project designed to handle roughly 25,000 vehicles a day. That upgrade, along with the ongoing Plaza District town center development nearby whose first retail building reached substantial completion in July, has made the corridor an active target for new commercial tenants, as Hoodline has previously reported.
A Rival Already Occupies the Neighborhood
GolfTRK won't be the only indoor golf option in this small Montgomery County municipality. A separate 2,365-square-foot simulator venue called Another Nine registered a $300,000 build-out along Interstate 45 in March, a facility Hoodline covered in an earlier report on its construction. The two businesses will be competing for the same pool of local golfers within the same city limits.
The arrival of both concepts tracks with a national surge in off-course golf. National Golf Foundation data released in February shows U.S. off-course participation reached 37.9 million people in 2025, helping push overall golf participation to a record 48.1 million Americans. Separate National Golf Foundation research from late 2025 found that commercial simulator businesses nationwide have nearly tripled since 2022 to more than 1,500 locations, with 80% of operators reporting profitability within their first year.
Whether Oak Ridge North's market can comfortably support two competing indoor golf venues remains to be seen. GolfTRK's franchise model leans on membership subscriptions and positions itself as a data-driven training center rather than a casual entertainment lounge, a distinction the company emphasizes on its own website. Community Impact has said it will update its story as more information becomes available.
