Napa's wine world is getting a musical encore this Saturday, when Vineyard Home Companion returns with local vintners, musicians and storytellers sharing the stage at Jarvis Conservatory. The evening promises original songs, personal stories and a closer look at the creative overlap between making wine and making music.
The second installment of the event was created and produced by Joe and Beverly Shotwell, with four Napa Valley performers featured in the program, according to the Napa Valley Register. Each performer is scheduled to play two original songs while explaining what brought them to Napa County and why they stayed.
Four Napa Valley Personalities Take The Stage
The lineup includes Judd Finkelstein, the vintner, musician and barkeep known around the valley as The Fink; Jeff Gargiulo, co-proprietor of Gargiulo Vineyards and a member of the Silverado Pickups; winemaker and Relic Wine Cellars founder Mike Hirby; and wine professional, songwriter and performer Shane Soldinger.
Hirby brings experience from bands including Wristrocket and Graveyard Boots, while Soldinger has performed with the Silverado Pickups and attended the inaugural Vineyard Home Companion. Finkelstein previously co-hosted the first event, and Gargiulo is expected to talk about arriving in Napa Valley and what drew him toward music, the Register reports.
Music, Winemaking And A Little Napa Valley Lore
The format leans into the similarities between music and winemaking: harmony, improvisation and the ability to create something memorable with the materials at hand. Finkelstein has described the event as an evening celebrating local roots through stories and music, with audiences encouraged to expect the unexpected.
Vineyard Home Companion begins at 7 PM Saturday at Jarvis Conservatory in Napa. The official ticket listing lists admission at $30 plus a $1 fee and identifies the four featured performers.
