The incident happened at approximately 9:19 p.m. in front of 773 East 169th Street, according to police.
The unidentified individual fled on foot to parts unknown after discharging the firearm, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers, which posted a wanted alert seeking tips from the public. No injuries or property damage have been officially confirmed in connection with the discharge at this stage. The building where the gunfire erupted, at 773 East 169th Street, is a 10,484-square-foot commercial property built in 1931 that houses six storefront spaces, including neighborhood retail and grocery businesses, according to PropertyShark.

Case Falls to 42nd Precinct at Command Boundary
The location sits within the patrol jurisdiction of the NYPD's 42nd Precinct, headquartered at 830 Washington Avenue, which covers roughly 1.09 square miles across the Morrisania and Claremont sections of the South Bronx, per precinct records. Notably, East 169th Street itself forms the official northern boundary of the 42nd Precinct, separating its Morrisania command from the neighboring 44th Precinct in Concourse just to the north, the same records show.

For now, the person responsible for Tuesday's gunfire on East 169th Street remains at large, and investigators have not said whether the shooter was targeting a specific individual or whether shell casings were recovered at the scene.
