Hardin County residents were warned Saturday that the county’s 9-1-1 lines are out of order, temporarily rerouting emergency communications while officials work to restore service.
According to a Hardin County Sheriff’s Office alert, 9-1-1 calls are being routed to Hardin County via Union County. Callers who need to reach local dispatch through the regular business line were told to dial (419) 673-1268 and choose option 0, while an administrative line ending in 1905 is also out of order.
What Hardin County Callers Should Know
The notice does not say residents should abandon 9-1-1 altogether; it says emergency calls are being routed through another county’s system. The Union County Sheriff’s Office says its communications division receives and dispatches 9-1-1 calls and is equipped for text-to-9-1-1, although Hardin officials did not specify whether texting is part of this temporary arrangement.
If 9-1-1 does not connect, callers should use the alternate number provided by Hardin County and select option 0. The sheriff’s office lists (419) 673-1268 as the main contact number on its official contact page.
Service Restoration Is Still Pending
Officials said they were working to restore the affected lines as soon as possible, but the public notice did not provide a cause or estimated repair time. Residents should check for an updated announcement before assuming the 9-1-1 system has returned to normal.
