Seattle is heading into a hot, smoky stretch Wednesday, with temperatures climbing from the low 60s around dawn to about 85 degrees by late afternoon. Patchy smoke is expected to return after noon, turning an otherwise sunny day into a rougher one for anyone spending extended time outside.
Heat Advisory Covers Wednesday And Thursday
The National Weather Service has a Heat Advisory in effect from 10 a.m. Wednesday through 10 p.m. Thursday for Seattle and much of western Washington. Highs should reach about 85 degrees Wednesday and 88 Thursday, while overnight lows stay unusually mild in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Smoke And Heat Arrive Together
An Air Quality Alert remains in effect for Seattle through 5 p.m. Thursday, with wildfire smoke expected to mix down toward the ground during the afternoon. The forecast calls for light north to northwest winds, no meaningful rain, and reduced air quality that could make outdoor work, exercise, and errands less comfortable.
Relief Arrives This Weekend
Friday will remain warm near 87 degrees before temperatures ease to about 83 Saturday and 77 Sunday. Monday and Tuesday should stay sunny and seasonably mild, with highs near 77 and 76 degrees, respectively, and mostly clear nights in the upper 50s and low 60s.
How To Handle The Hot, Smoky Stretch
Residents should drink plenty of fluids, limit strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day, and move indoors when heat or smoke becomes uncomfortable. The City of Seattle's heat-safety guidance points residents toward cooling spaces in King County and recommends checking on older adults, children, neighbors, and pets during the advisory.
