Tickets for Houston Ballet's Nutcracker Market officially went on sale Monday, opening the door to what organizers call Houston's largest annual fundraiser and one of the region's biggest seasonal shopping events. General admission runs $25 plus fees for a single day, while shoppers who want repeat access across all four days can grab an Early Bird ticket for $60 plus fees. The 46th edition of the market returns to Reliant Center, the venue formerly known as NRG Center, running Thursday, November 12 through Sunday, November 15.

According to CW39 Houston, general admission and Early Bird tickets went on sale Monday through nutcrackermarket.com, with Early Bird passes granting 8:30 a.m. entry on Thursday and Friday plus repeat admission throughout all four market days. A Sunday-only admission option is also available for $20 plus fees, and children age 2 and younger get in free. All other attendees need a ticket, per the outlet.

What's New Among More Than 280 Vendors

This year's market features more than 280 merchants, including 29 newcomer vendors joining the mix of fashion, fine jewelry, apparel, gourmet food, treats and unique holiday finds, the station reports. Longtime vendors are returning as well, among them Taylor Paladino, Royal Standard and Paul Michael Company, giving repeat shoppers some familiar stalls alongside the new additions.

The market's roots trace back to 1981, when longtime Houston Ballet supporter Preston Frazier pitched the Houston Ballet Guild on a European- and Latin American-style street market concept designed to raise dance scholarships, according to Houston Ballet. That first year brought in $28,000. Since then, the market and its spring counterpart have raised more than $100 million combined to support the ballet's productions, academy and community outreach, the organization notes.

Where the Money Goes

Recent four-day holiday markets have drawn between 88,000 and 100,000 shoppers and generated $20 million to $23 million in retail merchandise spending, according to figures cited by Houston Ballet. Beyond ticket sales, the organization collects an 11% commission on all vendor merchandise sales and special orders made during the four-day run, a revenue-sharing structure spelled out in the ballet's own merchant guidelines. Proceeds support Houston Ballet and its academy, and they help fund education and community engagement programs that serve more than 85,000 area students annually while supporting roughly 1,000 enrolled dancers at the Houston Ballet Academy.

That scale reflects Houston Ballet's standing as the fourth-largest professional ballet company in the country, with an operating budget of $41.2 million and an endowment of $110.8 million as of July 2024. The market's growth from a church-bazaar-style pitch into a multimillion-dollar retail operation has made it central to keeping that budget funded year after year.

Special Events and Premium Packages

Beyond general admission, the market includes a slate of special-event tickets, including the Wells Fargo Preview Party, the Snow Queen's Fashion Show and Luncheon, and the Sugar Plum's Fashion Show and Luncheon, per CW39. Premium individual tickets for the Wednesday night Wells Fargo Preview Party run $400 for 2026, granting early shopping privileges, dinner buffets, drinks and complimentary parking or valet service, according to Houston Ballet. Higher-tier donor options, such as the $2,500 Clara Package, include two tickets to every special event and fashion show luncheon, Early Bird passes, and dedicated valet parking throughout the weekend.

Hours and Logistics for Shoppers

Market hours run 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 12; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 13; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 14; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the closing Sunday, November 15, per CW39's reporting. Reliant Center sits at 1 Reliant Parkway in Houston.

Strollers, carts, rolling bags and wagons are not allowed inside the market itself, though a check-in area will be available near the entrance for those items, according to the station. On-site vehicle parking at NRG Park typically ranges from $20 to $25 per car with no in-and-out privileges, though attendees can also reach the venue via METRORail or designated rideshare drop-off zones near Hall E, as Hoodline reported this spring when the market's warm-weather counterpart returned to NRG Center after a four-year hiatus with roughly 150 merchants focused on spring and summer goods.
