Houston dogs are getting a fall festival of their own, complete with costume contests, live music, a beer garden and a fundraising mission. Houston Pets Alive!'s Barktoberfest returns Saturday, October 10, at Katy's Home Run Dugout, giving four-legged partygoers a chance to strut while helping at-risk pets.
The free-admission event will benefit Houston Pets Alive!, with optional ticket purchases supporting the rescue's work with homeless and at-risk animals, according to the CultureMap Houston listing. Pacifico is presenting the event, which is billed as a family-friendly fall festival for humans and dogs alike.
According to Houston Pets Alive!, Barktoberfest will run from 2 to 6 p.m. at Home Run Dugout, with dog costume contests, music and other tail-wagging activities. The venue's Katy location gives the event plenty of room for a large crowd, including guests who arrive with their favorite four-legged plus-one.
The rescue's event FAQ says the festival will include vendors, a Pacifico beer garden, a silent auction and live music. Four costume contests are scheduled throughout the afternoon, and participating dogs must be leashed and current on vaccinations, including rabies.
A Fundraiser Wrapped In Fall Festival Energy
Barktoberfest is more than a dressed-up dog parade with snacks, although there will be plenty of both. Houston Pets Alive!'s October newsletter said the 2025 edition drew roughly 1,500 attendees and raised $52,000 for the organization's lifesaving work, according to the rescue's newsletter.
Houston Pets Alive! says its mission is to save at-risk cats and dogs, support local shelters and help place animals in loving homes. The organization pulls pets facing euthanasia because of shelter crowding, medical needs or time limits, then provides veterinary care and foster or adoption support, as outlined by Houston Pets Alive!.
The festival will take place outdoors, with shade umbrellas planned around the venue, and organizers say it is scheduled to proceed rain or shine. Home Run Dugout also offers free on-site parking, while alcohol purchases are limited to guests age 21 and older with valid identification.
Home Run Dugout is located at 1220 Grand West Blvd. in Katy. With free entry, adoptable-pet advocacy and a costume contest that practically begs for a tiny cape or hot-dog suit, Barktoberfest is shaping up to be one of the Houston area's most pup-friendly fall outings.
