Monday Heat Peaks Before Evening
Sunshine will dominate the day, with only about a 10% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. Southwest winds near 5 mph will shift more southerly later, while temperatures fall only to around 80 Monday night.
The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston has a Heat Advisory in effect through 7 p.m. Monday for portions of the region. Residents are urged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning or shade, limit strenuous activity and check on older relatives, neighbors and anyone without reliable cooling.
Tuesday And Wednesday Stay Dangerous
Tuesday looks just as sunny and nearly as hot, with a high near 98 and heat-index values reaching 106. Wednesday should also reach about 98 under mostly sunny skies, and forecasters say hazardous heat could continue through midweek even if the current advisory is not extended.
Rain Chances Improve Late This Week
The pattern finally loosens late in the week. Thursday brings a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., followed by a 40% chance Friday as the high eases to around 93.
Saturday and Sunday should stay near 93, with a 20% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms each day. Those storms may provide brief, highly local relief, but Houston should not count on a citywide cooldown or a guaranteed soaking.
