Isaac Mizrahi is heading back underneath Studio 54 this week, bringing a new cabaret show called “Hooray” to the intimate supper club 54 Below from Tuesday, August 12, through Saturday, August 15. The designer-turned-entertainer, who has been performing for audiences for more than 35 years, will mix music, comedy, stories, and insider commentary across the four-night run.
The show was first reported by PIX11, which noted the run's dates and its blend of live music and stand-up-style storytelling. Housed in the cellar at 254 W. 54th St., the 147-seat 54 Below operates as a non-profit cabaret venue often nicknamed Broadway's Living Room, and it received a Special Tony Award Honor for Excellence in the Theatre in 2022, according to its own account on Wikipedia. For “Hooray,” Mizrahi will be backed by a six-piece jazz band led by pianist and musical director Ben Waltzer, with a setlist that stretches from Billie Eilish to Cole Porter, per Air Mail.
An Annual Summer Tradition Downtown
This is not Mizrahi's first trip to 54 Below in August. The venue's own records show his 2026 “Hooray” engagement continues an annual summer residency that included “Isaac Mizrahi: A Brief History” in August 2024 and “Isaac Mizrahi Survives Democracy” in August 2025. Each iteration reportedly brings a new thematic focus, fresh arrangements, and unscripted riffs on current events, according to 54 Below's event listings.
The summer shows run alongside a separate winter tradition. Mizrahi marked his 10th anniversary season of cabaret performances at Manhattan's Café Carlyle in February 2026 with a new show titled “A.I. Artificial Isaac,” as reported by Diversity Rules Magazine. Between the two venues, cabaret has become a fixture of his calendar rather than an occasional side project.
A Career Spanning Fashion, Film and TV
Mizrahi launched his eponymous fashion label in 1987 and went on to collect four Council of Fashion Designers of America awards, including a special 1996 honor tied to the documentary “Unzipped,” according to CFDA and Business Wire reporting. That film, which chronicles his Fall 1994 collection and won the Sundance Audience Award in 1995, is getting a fresh audience of its own this fall — PIX11 noted the re-release, and CFDA reports that Janus Films acquired North American rights for a 30th-anniversary 4K restoration set to open in New York theaters on September 25 before expanding nationwide.
2026 has also brought a notable corporate turn for Mizrahi. Target named him its first-ever Creative Director at Large in June, more than two decades after his landmark 2002 designer collaboration with the retailer helped pioneer affordable designer collections, according to CFDA. Mizrahi's résumé also includes a 2022 Broadway acting debut as Amos Hart in the long-running revival of “Chicago” at the Ambassador Theatre, according to 54 Below. In 2023, he launched an interview podcast called “Hello Isaac,” following his 2019 New York Times bestselling memoir, “I.M.,” according to the podcast's own site.
