Jacksonville International Airport's Club JAX is getting a nearly $3.07 million makeover after the city issued a build-out permit Friday. The shared-use lounge is expected to return in 2027 more than twice its former size, with room for 131 travelers instead of 52.
According to Jax Daily Record, Auld & White Constructors LLC is handling the 6,133-square-foot project. The new lounge will sit on an elevated mezzanine just past security, accessible by stairs or two elevators, and will be developed and managed by Airport Dimensions, part of London-based Collinson Group.
The permit marks the next chapter for a lounge that closed in August 2024 to clear the way for Concourse B construction. The original Club JAX opened in 2018, and the Jacksonville airport's opening announcement described a premium lounge with food, drinks, work space, showers and access for travelers on any airline, including through a $40 day pass.
Club JAX Is Tied To Jacksonville Airport's Bigger Expansion
The lounge is being built into Jacksonville International Airport's $344 million Concourse B project, which is adding six gates, new concessions and additional passenger space. A March public notice from the Jacksonville Aviation Authority describes a three-level concourse totaling roughly 198,000 square feet, including a club area.
The authority has said Concourse B remains on track for a December 2026 opening. News4JAX reported after a February tour that Club JAX and a new Delta Sky Club are planned on the mezzanine overlooking the food hall, giving the airport's lounge scene a substantial upgrade in one swoop.
There is also a bigger financial commitment behind the permit number. Jax Daily Record reported that Airport Dimensions will lease the space for 12 years and is required to spend at least $4.5 million on leasehold improvements, while paying the aviation authority a share of gross revenue that rises from 8% in the first two years to 12% in the final years of the lease.
The new day rate has not been announced. The old Club JAX charged $40 for daily access, with discounts available to Priority Pass, LoungeKey and Lounge Club members, and the Jacksonville Aviation Authority previously said the lounge was open to passengers regardless of airline or ticket class.
