John Summit is bringing his biggest headline show to date to Los Angeles, announcing a December 12 date at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum that will close out his CTRL ESCAPE Tour. The venue holds more than 77,000 seats, making it the largest stage the house and tech house DJ has ever booked for a solo headlining set.
The Coliseum show marks the finale of Summit's tour in support of his 15-track sophomore album, also titled CTRL ESCAPE, which arrived April 15 via Experts Only and Darkroom Records, as reported by Beatportal. The record is built as a concept album about escaping corporate office life, a theme drawn directly from Summit's own background: before he was filling stadiums, he worked as an accountant at Ernst & Young until he was fired in 2019 and pivoted to music full time, according to Exron Music. Summit, whose legal name is John Schuster, is a 32-year-old Illinois native who earned accounting degrees from the University of Illinois, per that same account.
A Rapid Climb Through LA's Biggest Stages
The Coliseum date caps off a fast-moving expansion through Southern California's concert scene. Summit went from club-sized gigs at the Hollywood Palladium and Shrine Expo Hall to headlining BMO Stadium in December 2023, then followed that with three consecutive sold-out nights at the Kia Forum in November 2024, according to SeatGeek. That trajectory reflects the intense regional demand for large-scale electronic music events, a demand the Coliseum itself has only occasionally tapped for standalone dance headliners.
The venue's most notable precedent came in December 2022, when DJ duo Kx5, made up of Kaskade and deadmau5, drew 50,000 attendees to set the record for North America's largest ticketed headlining dance music event, per FindYourSounds. Summit's booking of the same 77,000-seat stadium places him in rare company for the genre in Los Angeles.
Presales Open Next Week Ahead of Public Sale
Tickets for the December 12 show open to the general public on August 20 at 10 a.m. PT. Before that, a presale for Cash App Visa cardholders begins August 17 at 10 a.m. PT, followed by a Reserved by Spotify presale on August 18 for eligible Spotify Premium subscribers, according to Pollstar News. As KTLA reports, a separate presale window has also been listed for August 19 at 10 a.m. PT. Given how quickly Summit's shows have moved in the past, including a Madison Square Garden sellout in under two hours, demand for Coliseum tickets is expected to be high once presales begin.
Building Toward a Stadium-Sized Finale
The North American leg of the CTRL ESCAPE Arena Tour begins October 1 at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois, where Summit attended college, before moving through arenas in Canada and the U.S. and ending with the single-night Los Angeles finale, per the SeatGeek report. The tour's production reportedly transforms a traditional office setting into an immersive rave, tying the stage design back to the album's corporate-escape concept.
Summit arrives in Los Angeles fresh off a packed international run. He just wrapped a nine-week summer residency holding down Mondays at the [UNVRS] club in Ibiza from June through July, and also played headlining festival sets at Tomorrowland and Lollapalooza, according to EDM Life. His commercial rise traces back to June 2020, when his track “Deep End” hit #1 on Beatport's global chart, eventually contributing to more than one billion career streams and a #2 debut on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart for his 2024 debut album, Comfort in Chaos.
From Club DJ to Festival Curator
Beyond touring, Summit has built out his own label and events brand, Experts Only, which he launched in May 2022. The imprint expanded into a standalone two-day festival on Randall's Island in New York City in September 2025 that drew 50,000 attendees, a milestone Hoodline previously covered when the festival was first announced. With the LA Coliseum now added to his resume, Summit's Los Angeles run stands as the latest marker of how far he's come since his days behind a desk at a Big Four accounting firm.
