Kinston police are asking residents to help identify a vehicle and people seen in video connected to a hit-and-run at a West Vernon Avenue auto-parts store. The case, numbered 2614773, is now a public search for clues, with investigators hoping someone recognizes what the camera captured.
In a Monday appeal, Kinston Police Department on Facebook said the incident occurred at Napa Auto Parts on West Vernon Avenue and asked the public to share the video. The department said anonymous tips may be submitted through Crime Stoppers, and information leading to an arrest could qualify for a cash reward.

Police have not publicly identified a suspect or announced an arrest in the information available Monday. The department also has not said whether the incident caused injuries or how much damage was reported, leaving the video and public tips as the focus of the investigation.
Public Appeals Have Played A Role In Other Kinston Hit-And-Runs
This is not the first time Kinston police have turned to residents in a hit-and-run investigation. Neuse News reported in February that officers had obtained arrest warrants in a separate Jan. 30 case near Laroque Avenue; police have not indicated that case is connected to the new investigation.
