A 30-year-old man was slashed in the right hand during a verbal dispute on a Downtown Brooklyn subway platform Friday night, police said. The knife-wielding suspect ran from the station, and no arrest has been reported.
According to News 12 Brooklyn, the man was approached around 9 p.m. on the southbound D train platform at the Pacific Street subway station. The suspect allegedly displayed a knife during the argument, slashed the victim, and fled in an unknown direction.
The injured man was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, News 12 reported. Police have not publicly identified a motive for the confrontation, and the suspect's identity remains unknown.
Police Ask Riders To Help Identify Suspect
The NYPD is asking anyone who witnessed the attack or has information about the suspect to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS, according to the NYPD Crime Stoppers program. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and the department says rewards may be available for information leading to an arrest and indictment in a violent felony case.
Officials have not released a description of the suspect or announced charges. Anyone who was at the Pacific Street station around the time of the slashing is urged to share information with investigators rather than confront anyone they believe may be involved.
