Kyle just got a new claim to brag about: It is now the first Hays County community with GFiber internet service. The ribbon-cutting came Thursday as the provider began serving its first customers, bringing a major high-speed network rollout to one of Central Texas’ fastest-growing cities.
Community Impact reports that GFiber, formerly known as Google Fiber, celebrated its first Hays County offering with the ceremony. John-Michael Cortez, the company’s head of government and community affairs, said the network is expected to connect thousands of homes, businesses and neighborhoods across Kyle.
What Kyle Residents Can Expect From The Rollout
GFiber’s Texas service lineup includes 1 Gig, 3 Gig and 8 Gig plans, with advertised prices ranging from $70 to $150 per month. The company says its plans include installation, Wi-Fi equipment and unlimited data, though availability is checked by individual address through GFiber’s Texas service page.
The launch follows a project that has been in the works for several years. In earlier coverage, Community Impact reported that GFiber first presented its plans to Kyle City Council in June 2023, followed by approval of a nonexclusive public right-of-way agreement in September 2024.
A Broadband Buildout Tied To Kyle’s Growth
Construction began in summer 2025, with crews installing the fiber infrastructure needed to expand service through the city. The project’s arrival also puts Kyle in the same broadband orbit as nearby Austin, where GFiber already operates, giving local residents and businesses another high-speed option.
Kyle Mayor Yvonne Flores-Cale described reliable internet as essential infrastructure for education, healthcare, public safety, entrepreneurship and economic development, according to Community Impact. For a city adding homes, employers and traffic at a brisk clip, the promise is not just faster streaming—it is a stronger digital backbone for everyday life and the businesses trying to grow here.
