Showers Fade As Afternoon Winds Pick Up
Showers should taper by around 10 a.m. across much of Cleveland, with mostly sunny skies taking over for the afternoon. West winds will run 10 to 16 mph, with occasional gusts near 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service Cleveland.
Farther east and southeast, scattered lake-effect showers may linger across the Snowbelt and into northwest Pennsylvania through tonight. Cleveland itself should stay mostly dry after the morning, with a low near 61 and mostly cloudy skies overnight.
Lake Erie Swimming Conditions Are Dangerous
The more serious concern today is along the Lake Erie shoreline, where a Beach Hazards Statement warns of a high risk of rip currents in Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula counties through the evening. The National Weather Service says swimmers should not enter the water, since currents can pull people away from shore and along piers or other structures.
Warmer Weather Arrives Before Thursday Storm Chances
Tomorrow looks calmer and mostly sunny, with a high near 76 and light northwest winds. Wednesday should be partly sunny and warmer, reaching about 81 degrees before shower and thunderstorm chances increase Wednesday night and Thursday.
Thursday carries roughly a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, while severe weather is not expected at this time. Drier weather returns Friday, and the weekend looks mostly sunny with highs near 79 on Saturday and 81 on Sunday, though a few showers or storms could still pop up Sunday.
