Teenagers who spent four weeks learning personal safety and critical thinking skills will trade their classroom for a Strip runway on Sunday, August 30, when the SHERO Foundation stages its 10th Annual “I AM RADIANT” Fashion Show at Macy's inside Fashion Show Las Vegas. The event caps an intensive youth empowerment program and doubles as the nonprofit's largest fundraiser of the year, with proceeds earmarked for a first-of-its-kind shelter for young trafficking survivors in the city.
According to KLAS 8 News Now, the runway show marks the grand finale of a four-week intensive training program that serves vulnerable youth, teaching personal safety, professional development, self-acceptance, and accountability. The teens who complete the program will walk the runway styled as future leaders, with the live event also featuring performances from dance team TBDLV and a set from teen DJ Liv. Jewelry worn on the runway was handcrafted by local survivors through HopeCo Global, which the station notes is part of the show's presentation.
A Decade of Direct Aid Behind the Glitz
The B.E. A S.H.E.R.O. Foundation, whose acronym stands for Building, Empowering, Supporting, Honoring, and Restoring Opportunities, was founded in 2015 by human trafficking survivor Kimberly Miles to serve young women under 25 affected by abuse and exploitation. The organization reported in 2026 that it has empowered more than 10,000 vulnerable youth and distributed over $600,000 in direct emergency aid over its first decade in Las Vegas, according to the SHERO Foundation. Miles is also founder and president of TPC Payroll/HR Consultants, a private Nevada payroll firm established in 2000, and she has folded that corporate HR expertise into the foundation's job skills training so teens graduate with career-readiness alongside safety education.
This year's fundraiser carries added weight because the foundation announced in 2026 that it plans to construct its first SHERO Sanctuary Home in Las Vegas, offering emergency housing and trauma-informed services for minor trafficking victims. The project answers a direct request from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, which often faces an acute shortage of immediate shelter placements when officers rescue minors during trafficking stings, per the foundation's own account of the initiative.
Survivor-Made Jewelry and Classroom Curricula
The jewelry featured on Sunday's runway comes from HopeCo Global, launched in 2023 as what the organization describes as Las Vegas's first commercial, survivor-made social enterprise. HopeCo Global employs local women recovering from exploitation to handcraft gemstone pieces, and it provides those artisans with competitive wages, job skills training, mentoring, and transportation assistance, according to HopeCo Global.
The foundation's prevention work extends well beyond the runway and into Southern Nevada classrooms. Under its SHERO Shield initiative, the organization partnered with the Clark County School District in 2024 to develop a human trafficking education and awareness curriculum for middle and high school students, as reported by Deluxe Version Magazine. Early classroom intervention is considered critical locally, where traffickers frequently attempt to recruit youth through social media and peer networks.
Why Nevada Keeps Ranking Near the Top
The stakes behind the fundraiser are borne out in the numbers. Nevada generated 418 signals to the National Human Trafficking Hotline in 2024, with 194 of those contacts coming directly from victims or survivors seeking help, per the National Human Trafficking Hotline. The state recorded 5.77 human trafficking cases per 100,000 residents that year, ranking second highest in the nation on a per capita basis, and Nevada law classifies sex trafficking of a minor as a Category A felony punishable by up to life in prison, according to the Nevada Independent.
State lawmakers have also been examining the hospitality industry's role in spotting exploitation. In a Strip hotel training push, Nevada legislators evaluated proposals in March to mandate staff training on trafficking red flags, backed by Arizona State University research showing local victims range from age 11 to 58. Common red flags presented to lawmakers included prolonged Do Not Disturb signs, minors left alone for extended periods, and refused room cleaning.
Teens Earn Their Spot on the Runway
Getting onto Sunday's runway wasn't automatic. Teens who wanted to participate went through an open application process that closed in July, then completed the mandatory four-week empowerment curriculum organized by the SHERO Teen Board as the foundation's primary youth-driven community fundraiser, according to footage from KVVU FOX5 Vegas. The show takes place at Macy's inside Fashion Show Las Vegas, located at 3200 South Las Vegas Boulevard along the Strip and anchoring a nearly 2-million-square-foot retail center that draws millions of visitors annually, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Tickets for the 10th Annual “I AM RADIANT” Fashion Show are available through sherofoundation.org. The event follows other local trafficking-related developments Hoodline has tracked, including an FBI-led raid on trafficking networks and the sentencing of a Las Vegas man who exploited victims across state lines before a rescue in San Diego.
