The abduction happened in Leon Valley, an incorporated municipality on the Northwest Side of the San Antonio metro area, where Evers Road serves as a major municipal corridor, according to KENS 5. Local emergency calls in the area are handled by the Leon Valley Police Department, which is leading the investigation alongside the Texas Department of Public Safety and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, per WOAI. Lopez is described as an associated companion in the case, though the exact relationship between him and Contreras has not been disclosed by investigators.

Texas authorities describe Lopez as a 30-year-old white male standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, as reported by FOX 7 Austin. He is believed to be traveling in a silver 2017 Ford Focus bearing Texas license plate TTP1016, according to the same report. No direction of travel has been established, and it remains unclear where the pair may be headed.
Contreras is described as a white female, 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighing approximately 54 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, per KENS 5's report. Her missing-person information is being distributed through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as part of the statewide alert.
