Lincoln Police Detain Man in Sun City Stabbing, Second Suspect Sought

A man was taken into custody Monday morning after a stabbing near Stoneridge Boulevard and Spring Valley Parkway inside the Sun City Lincoln Hills area, an age-restricted community for residents 55 and older on the outskirts of Lincoln. Police have not said what led to the attack, and a second person connected to it was still being sought.

The Lincoln Police Department said the man suspected in the stabbing was in custody, according to KCRA 3. Officers had been searching for a man in his early 20s with a long goatee, wearing black pants and a black jacket, before he was detained. The outlet's report, written by senior digital producer Jonathan Ayestas, notes that police have not released details about what led to the stabbing or the extent of any injuries.

Second Suspect Still at Large

According to the same report, another person was still wanted in connection with the attack as of Monday. Police have not identified either individual publicly, and the condition of anyone injured in the stabbing has not been disclosed. Those open questions leave residents of the sprawling senior enclave with little clarity about what unfolded just off their quiet interior streets.

Sun City Lincoln Hills is a massive master-planned community, spanning nearly 3,000 acres with more than 6,700 single-family homes and roughly 11,000 residents, according to Sun City Lincoln Hills. Stoneridge Boulevard and Spring Valley Parkway sit within an interior residential pocket of the development, feeding into calmer suburban streets like Blue Heron Loop and Mockingbird Drive, per property records reviewed by Redfin.

The development has long leaned on organized resident vigilance. Sun City Lincoln Hills Neighborhood Watch history shows the community launched its own watch program back in May 2000, not long after construction began, and it has since grown to more than 100 volunteer teams coordinating with local public safety agencies.

That kind of grassroots infrastructure exists in a city that has built a reputation as one of California's safer places to live. Lincoln was ranked the fourth-safest city in the state in April 2025 by SafeWise, an improvement from seventh the year before, with a violent crime rate of just 1.7 per 1,000 residents, as reported by Gold Mountain California News Media. Five restaurant workers were injured in a multi-victim stabbing inside a kitchen at Thunder Valley Casino Resort, an incident Hoodline previously reported resulted in non-life-threatening injuries and the detention of a 20-year-old suspect. The back-to-back incidents have put a spotlight on a city where sharp-weapon violence is otherwise rare.

Any felony case stemming from Monday's arrest would move through a familiar local pipeline: the Lincoln Police Department investigates, and the Placer County District Attorney's Office prosecutes cases in Placer County Superior Court in Auburn or Roseville, according to a Lincoln criminal defense law firm's overview of the process. Under California Penal Code Section 245(a)(1), assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm is a wobbler offense, meaning prosecutors could pursue either a misdemeanor or a felony carrying up to four years in state prison, per the Goldstein Law Group.
