Seven years after Andrea Knabel vanished from Louisville's Audubon Park neighborhood, her family has raised the reward for information leading to her whereabouts to $10,000. The Louisville mother of two was last seen at a family member's home in the area in August 2019, and her father says tips about the case are still coming in.
According to WDRB, Michael Knabel said information is still trickling in about his daughter's case, and the family put up more missing posters this week as part of the renewed push. Knabel was 37 years old and had spent her free time volunteering as an investigator with Missing in America, a non-profit that helps families search for missing adults and children, according to the Missing in America Network. She had helped other families navigate the very kind of disappearance her own family now faces.
The night before she disappeared, Knabel visited a local emergency room for a facial rash, took a Lyft back to Audubon Park around 11:34 p.m. on August 12, 2019, and walked to her sister's house near midnight before leaving around 1:38 a.m., the Missing in America Network reports. Her mother's house was undergoing renovations at the time. Google Dashboard indicated she made it back to her mother's house, and her phone was never found while her bank cards were never used.
A Search That Keeps Turning Up Empty
Investigators and volunteers have not stopped looking. In February, search crews accompanied by bloodhounds combed a large open field on Fincastle Road in Louisville, following a tip connected to the last person known to have seen Knabel. The report does not say whether evidence was recovered from that search.
Michael Knabel told WDRB that a girl reported seeing his daughter two days after she went missing, one of the leads the family continues to weigh alongside law enforcement. National Attention, Still No Resolution
The case drew national attention when Investigation Discovery and discovery+ premiered “Finding Andrea,” a four-part docuseries, on January 1, 2022. Knabel's file remains unresolved, with no confirmed trace of her since her phone went dark that August morning seven years ago.
