Firefighters were dealing with a 10-acre vegetation fire Sunday night in Jurupa Valley, where heavy fuels and difficult access turned a relatively compact blaze into a resource-heavy response.
The incident, identified as the Mann Fire, was reported around 7:33 p.m. near Mann Avenue and Holmes Avenue, according to CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department. Crews said the fire was burning through heavy vegetation at a moderate rate of spread, while additional Type III wildland engines and water tenders were requested because the terrain was making access difficult.
Initial Fire Report Leaves Containment Status Unclear
The initial bulletin did not include a containment percentage, evacuation order, injuries, or a cause. Fire officials asked the public to follow the department’s official channels for additional updates as crews continued working in the area.

Santa Ana River Corridor Carries Persistent Fire Risk
The fire comes in a city that has long identified wildland fire as a serious hazard, particularly around the Santa Ana River bottom, where vegetation can help carry flames toward developed areas. The city’s hazard plan describes that corridor as vulnerable to wildfire, while a Riverside County fire planning document describes a continuous fuel bed through parts of the river drainage.
